Positive test leads to Perry losing the next two games

The first Central Georgia football team to take a big hit since the season started is Perry.

The school announced late Wednesday afternoon that a positive COVID test has led to the canceling of this week’s game against Hampton and next week’s game against Veterans.

Two junior varsity games are canceled as well.

The school said in a Facebook post that it will try to reschedule the games.

Neither varsity game is a region game, but the game against Veterans is an intercounty game. Perry’s remaining open dates are Oct. 2 and Oct. 23. Veterans is also open on Oct. 2, as well as Oct. 30. Hampton’s current open dates are Oct. 9 and Nov. 13.

The Panthers are 0-2 after a pair of close losses to bigger programs, 17-10 to 6A Houston County and 14-10 to 5A Harris County.
