Macon Touchdown Club season gets underway on Monday
The 2020 season for the Macon Touchdown Club is on schedule, and it starts Monday.
Longtime ESPN reporter – and Georgia native – Mark Schlabach is the first speaker of the year. ACE and FPD are featured high schools.
The club meets at the Methodist Home for Children and Youth, in the Rumford Center, at 304 Pierce Ave. It starts at 6:30 p.m. with dinner and the program to begin around 7. Cost is $30 for non-members.
There are a variety of logistical changes related to COVID-19.
Rows of tables have replaced circular tables, and a around 125 people –on the floor, stage, and upper level – will be allowed in.
Temperatures will be taken at the door, and masks are required upon entry, to be worn until all are seated and dining begins. Plates will be filled by Methodist Home workers rather than the previous walk-through, and plates will remain on tables until the night is over.

Sept. 21, UGA kicking legend Kevin Butler; Sept. 28, new Mercer head coach Drew Cronic; Oct. 5, Georgia Southern head coach Chad Lunsford; Oct. 12, Samford head coach and Maconite Chris Hatcher; Oct. 19, UGA radio’s Jeff Dantzler; Oct. 26, current Georgia Tech assistant and former standout running back Tashard Choice.
