Good second round not enough for Henley
Russell Henley improved by three strokes in the second round of the 3M Open in Minnesota, but missed the cut by a stroke.
The projected cut late Friday afternoon was two under, and Henley was one over at the time. Henley first-round 72 was sabotaged by a crushing triple bogey on No. 9, after two birdies. He had a birdie and bogey on the back nine for 1-over for the day.
He stabilized things with a par-only front nine on Friday, and picked up a stroke with a birdie on 10 and one with a birdie on 14 to get within a shot of the cut line.
But he ended up among 19 players at 1-under, just missing the cut along with Bubba Watson and Brooks Koepka, among others.
Nolan Daniel (Dublin) got the win, Gavin Grubbs the loss. The teams went through 14 pitchers.
They play Saturday in Savannah.
Savannah wins slugfest
Macon took the lead with a 10-run seventh-inning, but Savannah exploded for seven runs in the 11th for a 19-15 win at Luther Williams in Coastal Plain action.
The Bananas led 8-2 after two, the Bacon went up 12-11 in the seventh. Savannah outhit Macon 17-9, with three players having three-hit nights and three a two-hit night. Trevor Austin had two hits and Jake Gitter three RBI for Macon.
