Thursday's Daily News 'n Notes: Henley off to a good start; more Wallace/noose updates; plenty of COVID-19 news; Mercer dominates honor roll; and more

Thursday's Central Georgia - and of interest to Central Georgia - news and notes, compiled from staff reports, email reports, the web, and social media. Updates will be noted, so check back.

Henley on the fringe of the top 10

One round of the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Conn., is in the books, and Russell Henley is in contention.

Henley is among six tied for 11th with a 65, five strokes behind leader Mackenzie Hughes and his lowest round of the season. He started on No. 10, and had only one bogey, on 17, to go with six birdies.

He’s on a much better path than a year ago, when he shot 74 and 71 and missed the cut, part of such a streak over four straight tournaments and five out of six.
