Top honors went to four players and one coach in Central Georgia with the Friday morning release of the Georgia Sports Writers Association all-state football team for the 2019 season.
The team was finalized earlier this week by a statewide media panel and scheduled for release at 9 a.m. Friday, although that embargo was broken Thursday morning by an area radio outlet on Twitter with local selections.
Unlike in the past, there is no second team or honorable mention this year from the GSWA.
Dublin dominated the choices in AA, with JaQues Evans, Romello Height, and Roger Holmes taking yearly honors on offense, defense, and coach.
Jones County’s Jontavis Robertson is the 5A player of the year, joined by Peach County linebacker Sergio Allen on defense in 3A.
Central Georgia was strong in Class AA, with three from Dublin, two from Bleckley County, and one from Washington County.
Warner Robins, Jones County, West Laurens, and Peach County each had two players chosen.
