National Signing Day 2020, Central Georgia high schools (more than football)

More than three dozen high school football players from Central Georgia officially cast their lot Wednesday with colleges on National Signing Day.

The lone SEC signee is Peach County defensive end JaQualin McGhee, one of about a dozen Trojans who participated in a dinnertime ceremony.

No Central Georgians signed with Georgia or Georgia Tech nor Mercer for the December and February signing days. But Fort Valley State, GMC, and Reinhardt picked up a chunk of Central Georgians.

A preferred walk-on is not a scholarship player/signee and won’t appear on a college’s signings list, but is noted here. Such is the case with Westside’s Jehlen Cannady and Gatewood’s Weston Wallace (of whom signing status hasn’t been announced).

College club teams or prep schools are not included on this list because they’re not sanctioned college teams under college organization rules. Signing periods don’t apply to either one.

Several non-football signings are included, with a batch from Perry and Stratford among others.
