Alumni Update

Taylor County’s Watson earns SBC honor

Warner Robins’ Callaway starts for the Saints

He wasn’t drafted, but Warner Robins grad Marquez Callaway is making a name with New Orleans.

The rookie caught four passes for 34 yards in the Saints’ 30-27 overtime win Monday night over the Chargers. That gives him five catches for 50 yards.

Callaway averaged 11.5 yards on six punt returns and 28.5 yards on two kickoff returns.

Jones County’s Gore moved from Dodgers roster

Terrance Gore was on the L.A. Dodgers’ roster for the first two rounds of the NL postseason, but the team moved him Monday to the taxi squad before the series with Atlanta started.

The Dodgers swapped him for pitcher Alex Wood, who played at Georgia, to bolster a staff in a series which pitching will be at a premium with no days off between games

Around/About Central Georgia

Dublin hosts Wheeler County on Tuesday

Conditioning will be as big as execution for Dublin when the Irish host Wheeler County at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

The teams agreed last week to give Tuesday football a try because of COVID issues.

Dublin is 2-1 overall and 1-0 in 4-A/Public, and ranked fifth, while Wheeler County is 4-0 and 2-0.

After a 33-20 opening loss to Dodge County, Dublin has outscored Swainsboro and Dooly County 92-14.

Wheeler County’s opener was a region game, a 26-19 win over Telfair County. Two easy non-region wins followed before the Bulldogs got past Hawkinsville 44-34.

Despite being neighboring counties with the schools less than 35 miles apart, they’ve never played.

Dublin gets little rest, hosting Hawkinsville on Saturday.
