Area teams ready for GHSA wrestling
The Macon Coliseum is host to the GHSA duals this week, starting Thursday morning, with seven Central Georgia teams competing.

Kaplan set for hall induction
Jaime Kaplan will break out her hall-of-fame wear again this weekend.
That’s when Kaplan joins two others at the induction ceremony for the Southern Tennis Hall of Fame. The ceremony is Saturday in Atlanta.
The announcement was made in September.

Wheeler County will be the opponent when Dodge County names its gym after legendary girls basketball coaches Bob Davis and Dick Kelly.
The ceremony on Jan. 28 will be between the girls and boys games.
Davis led the team to eight state tournaments in 14 years and Kelly 24 times in his 30 years.

Vidalia’s Chomskis to Lincoln County
Lee Chomskis will get a chance to see some relatives a little easier in the fall of 2020.
The nephew of Mary Persons legend Dan Pitts is taking over at Lincoln County, becoming the Red Devils’ third head coach since legend Larry Campbell retired after the 2013 season.
Chomskis went 101-45 in 13 seasons at Vidalia, and follows Kevin Banks (30-15-1 in four seasons) and Michael Pollock (13-7 in two). He was 3-17 in two seasons at Evans, and followed that with a few seasons along the way at Lincoln County, his alma mater.
