Latest GHSA Class A football rankings? No new good news
Only three Central Georgia teams are in the top 20 in their respective groups in the second GHSA Class A power rankings.
Taylor County is No. 5 in Public, with Mount de Sales and Stratford 18-19 in Private.
But the rankings remain a little puzzling.
Stratford moved up two spots 19th in the private rankings despite a 28-point loss to Fellowship Christian, which is only ranked 14th.
FPD dropped 10 spots after a two-point loss to Brookstone, which was barely ranked behind the Vikings going into the game. Tattnall was off and fell three spots. Mount de Sales stayed put at 18th.
More inexplicable: Wilkinson County is 0-4 and been outscored 159-19 and is 23rd on the public side, ahead of 16 teams that have won a game, and the Warriors are the highest-ranked winless team in Public.
Behind Wilkinson County? Hancock Central, 2-2 and a playoff team last year, which has outscored opponents 91-69. Wilkinson County has a better rating at 9.25 than 3-1 Mitchell County, which is ranked in the GSWA and AJC polls.
Hancock Central and Macon County are tied for 30th, with Dooly County at No. 42, Hawkinsville at No. 44, Twiggs County at No. 46, Crawford County at No. 48, and GMC (listed at 0-2) at No. 50.
Some records remain incomplete or wrong.
Five Central Georgia teams in GHSA softball power rankings top 10
The area softball teams are mighty consistent, no doubt.
The same five teams remained among the top 10 in their respective groups.
Tattnall, Stratford, and Mount de Sales are 2-3-4 in Private, while ACE is sixth and GMC 10th in Public.
The area remains strong in the Public rankings, with No. 12 Crawford County, No. 14 Hawkinsville, for four teams in the top 14. Taylor County is 28th, followed by No. 41 Wilkinson County, No. 42 Dooly County, and N0. 49 Twiggs County.
FPD is 22nd in Private.
