The latest improvements at Henderson Stadium will have to be unveiled a little later than planned.
Rutland’s home game this week against Worth County has been moved to Thursday at 7 p.m. at Ed DeFore.
The game was scheduled for Friday at Henderson, but work on the new field has yet to be completed.
“The sod is down; we’re supposed to have it Oct. 4,” Bibb County Athletics Director Barney Hester said. “The contract was to play on it (this) Friday.”
The county will be paid by the contractor a certain amount for every day the job is not completed. Westside and Central are schedule to play there on Oct. 4
It’s not the same turf that’s been installed at the Ed DeFore Sports Complex, but is natural grass. Many issues regarding footing and grading on the sidelines have been addressed, as well as improved drainage, which has been desperately needed.

The county board of education owns Ed DeFore, while Macon-Bibb County owns Henderson.
The lighting was replaced last year, as was fencing. On the list: upgrades for the restrooms and concession stands, drastically improved handicap access, and a two fieldhouses at the entrance of the stadium will dress up the five-decade-old facility.
“It’s going to be nice,” Hester said. “It’s going to be really nice.”
