Football

Brentwood 31, Trinity Christian 0

          The hosts racked up 365 yards in total offense and held TCS to 113. Brentwood took a 17-0 halftime lead on a 3-yard run from Schley Moore and 10-yarder from Thomas Denton plus a 32-yard field goal from Zeb Chapman, who was perfect on three PATs. Chase Everett added a TD run and the War Eagles got a 55-yard scoring pass from McKinley Newton to Colby Johnson. Everett ran 12 times for 83 yards and Johnson seven times for 65 yards. Will Wright, Brock Burley, and Ben Tarbutton led the defense, which held TCS to 3.2 yards a snap and only six first downs.

 

Softball

Dodge County 9, Bleckley County 0

Elbert County 5, Monticello 3

          Jasmine Stone, Avery Barton, and Allie Jones had two hits each for Monticello, which matched Elbert County with seven hits but had five errors.

East Laurens 15, Southwest 0

          DeAsia Lowther threw a three-inning perfect game, with nine strikeouts, the Falcons aided by nine errors leading to 12 unearned runs.

Fullington 8, Berrien 1

GMC 12, Glascock County o

Hawkinsville 24, Dooly County 0

          A 17-run first combined with eight Dooly County errors led to the rout. Hawkinsville got four hits from Samantha Lancaster, three from Ashanti Edwards, Kaitlyn Newman, and Gracie Collins, and two from Kirsten Wolters, Nadia Sloan, and Rylee Sinyard. Mary Claire Daniell drove in six runs on one hit, Wolters had four RBI and Newman three while also getting the win in the one-hitter. Only eight runs were earned.

Jones County 13, Stockbridge 0; Jones County 15, Stockbridge 0

          The Greyhounds put 10 runs up in the first as Destin Howard and Brianna Edmonson teamed for a four-inning no-hitter, Howard with nine strikeouts and Edmonson with three. Kenzie Forrester had three hits and three RBI, Mac Norman adding two hits and two runs and Edmonson three RBI. Kaitlyn Brower, Mollly Keenum, and Maddie Beck had two hits each in the nightcap, Brower and Taylor Trefelner with three RBI each. Beck and Forrester added two RBI apiece. Forrester gave up one hit, with eight strikeouts in the three-inning game.

Lee County 15, Northside 0

Marion County 4, Crawford County 3

          Marion County got the walk-off in the eighth on a stunning four-base error in the outfield. The Eagles gave up three unearned runs on three errors.

Perry 10, Spalding 3

          Three straight three-run innings early put the Panthers in control. AliRae Dykes went off for five RBI on three hits, while Terra Odom, Raegan Stella, Abby Ussery, and Madison Homen had two this each, Ussery with two RBI. Homen went the distance for the win.

Pike County 19, Peach County 4

Rutland 14, Westside 2

          Nine in the second led to the shortened game, Rutland needing only seven hits, thanks to 10 walks and three errors. Taylor Stewart had two hits and three RBI, with two RBI from Lacey Caldwell, Ciara Passmore, and Hannah Pelt.

Stratford 16, Twiggs County 0

          Mary Elaine Mitchell went for three hits and five RBI while Bailey Thames had two hits and four RBI to lead the Eagles in the three-inning win. Paige Gray fanned seven for the win.

Tattnall 3, ACE 0

          The Trojans got their runs in the third, on Courtney Ball’s two-out homer to center, bringing in Julia Bridgeman and Jaelyn Darley. ACE got runners on in every inning after that, but couldn’t push anything across on Kenna Epps, who had a strikeout and two walks in the seven-inning six-hitter, on 64 pitches. Dixiana Sims fanned five with no walks in the loss.

Upson-Lee 12, Mary Persons 4

Veterans 8, Bainbridge 0

          Nicole Chavous led Veterans with three hits and three RBI, Jenna Thomas and Kaylee Brown with two RBI each, the Warhawks getting four in the second and taking advantage of five errors. Emily Myers fanned six with a walk and four hits in five innings.

          The Raiders put five up in the second.
