Cephus is back as a Badger

          Monday morning, Wisconsin reinstated Quintez Cephus as a student in good standing.

          Monday afternoon, Cephus was in Madison for a press conference with an answer for his future plans: he’s going nowhere.

          Cephus said he wants to return to Wisconsin, the university and the football team. His eligibility for the season has yet to be ironed out, but the football team welcomed him back Monday evening.

Need a high school football fix? Here ya go

          Baldwin, Washington County, Southwest, and Westside gathered at Mercer with sponsors and media to talk about Saturday’s Macon Touchdown Club Middle Georgia Kickoff Classic.

          And in the evening, the head coaches and some players from the Macon-Bibb public high schools gathered for Bibb County Media Day to talk about things look for the Chargers, Huskies, Raiders, Hurricanes, Patriots, and Seminoles.

          There were some high school football scrimmages a few  days ago.

Monticello 7, Jackson 2
          Two runs in the fifth and sixth innings sealed it for the hosts. Jasmine Stone and Kate Robinson had three hits each for Monticello, while Avery Barton drove in two runs with two hits. Bailey Jenkins struck out six with no walks in the complete-game win.

Northside 15, Peach County 6
          Northside had a 10-1 lead after two, 10-5 after three, and then pulled away, thanks in part to seven Peach County errors and nine walks. Celena Luna, Mallory Gordy, and Madelyne Lee had two hits each for Northside, Lee and Luna driving in three runs apiece. Cheyenne McDonald had two hits for Peach County.

Schley County 4 Perry 3
          Schley County won it in the sixth on a walk and two singles, unable to put Perry away despite outhitting the Panthers 11-3.

Starr’s Mill 3, Jones County 0
          The Greyhounds were held to three hits, Starr’s Mill turning five hits into three runs.
