Houston County multi-sport standout Wesley Steiner defended his Class 6A discus title, his 176-5 winning by nearly four feet. He also took fourth in the shot, nearly five feet behind the winner.

Garrett Rogers kept Bleckley County's distance running rep intact by winning the Class AA boys 3,200, with teammate Jaylen Thigpen fourth. Rogers was second last year, and cut more than a half-minute off his time.

Houston County's India Turk scored points in three events.

Some late events have been pushed to Friday morning.

Albany is hosting Class A Public, 3A, and 4A. Carrollton is hosting Class 5A, 6A, and wheelchair

Rome is hosting Class A Private, AA, and 7A.

Most of Thursday action involved preliminaries in running events, with more field finals coming on Friday. Action begins Friday at 9:30 a.m. in Albany and Rome, and noon in Carrollton, except for earlier starts for events delayed from Thursday.
