GISA baseball: John Milledge can't dig out of early hole in Game 1 loss
By the time John Milledge put something other than a zero on the scoreboard, the Trojans were down 5-0.
Dominion Christian made the lead stand up en route to an 8-4 win over John Milledge in Game 1 of their GISA Class AAA state championship baseball series at Mercer’s OrthoGeorgia Park.
Game 2 is Saturday at 5 p.m.
The Trojans made life a little tougher with four errors leading to three unearned runs, and they were unable to take advantage of outhitting Dominion Christian, stranding 13 runners.
The Knights gained control with a four-run second inning, all run scoring with two outs and the inning extended by two hit batters followed by two walks for three runs.
Two errors and a double lead to two more Knights runs in the fourth.
John Milledge got at least two runners on in every inning except the third.
Jared Prestwood, Patrick McDonel, and Seth Bowden had two hits each for John Milledge, while Dominion Christian spread out six one-hit games, Chris LoCurto driving in two runs.
Prestwood threw 89 pitches in five innings, giving way to Carson Dyer.
John Milledge fell to 15-10 while Dominion Christian improved to 21-11.
