Teams spent three days chasing Farrow and the Bleckley County Royals. Both sort of ran away with things.

Farrow won the 100 and 200 meters and helped the Royals take both relays en route to the GHSA Class AA boys state track title Saturday in Rome.

The Royals ran away – figuratively and literally - with the title with 88 points, way past second place Elbert County’s 47 for their first state track title.

Bleckley County finished fifth last year with 34 points, 17 behind champ Elbert County. Bleckley County finished second in 2017, five points behind Vidalia.

Bleckley County’s girls finished fifth for the second year in a row.

Other Central Georgia teams finishing in the top 10: Houston County’s boys, Mary Persons’ boys, Central’s girls, the girls from East Laurens and Washington County, Hancock Central’s boys, and FPD’s boys.

Region 3-AA had four teams in the girls’ top 13, Dublin tying for 13th.

It’s the school’s second state championship in less than two weeks, the Royals’ girls tennis team.

Bleckley County’s boys scored the second-most points, behind Landmark Christian’s 105 points, over three days of action, which was held in Albany, Carrollton, and Rome.

Farrow, who has signed with Kennesaw State for football, closed out a sterling career with the Royals by winning the two sprints and helping two relays win, with one breaking a 35-year-old program record.

Washington County’s Mecca Jackson won two titles in Class AA girls, the 200 and 400.

Here are Saturday’s Central Georgia scorers, with – for context – the winner in the event, and second place behind area winners. Send any corrections or updates to centralgasports@gmail.com.
