Class A Private girls: Holy Innocents 75, Wesleyan 48
Sure, Holy Innocents won the first two meetings, and winning a third time wouldn’t necessarily be a surprise.
          But by 27 points?
Well, HI won the first meeting by five points in mid-January, and the second meeting by 22 in early February.
          Which equals 27 points.
The Wolves were held to 30.4 percent from the floor, 28.6 percent on threes, and a stunning 45.5 percent from the line.
And Wesleyan, in another stunning stat, never led.
The Golden Bears countered with percentages of 52, 50, and 70.4.
Jillian Hollingshead led HI with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Jada Farrell added 18 points and Rachel Suttle 12 rebounds.

Class A Boys Private: St. Francis 73, ELCA 69
A 3-pointer by Dwon Odom with 6:04 left in the game put St. Francis on top by one, and then the Knights held on at the line for their third state title.
The lead grew to six on a three-point play by Odom less than two minutes later and was again six at the 2:45 mark.
Every time ELCA threatened – and the Chargers never let the Knights pull away after losing the lead – St. Francis had an answer.
The margin finally dropped to two on Mekhi Cameron’s 3 with three seconds left, but the Chargers earned a technical by calling a timeout they didn’t have.
Odom made the first and missed the second, but teammate Chase Ellis was fouled and made the second with a second left.
Odom had a monster night with 28 points, 17 in the fourth quarter. Jusaun Holt added 16 points and a team-high nine rebounds
Cameron and KJ Jones II had 17 for ELCA and Felix Uadiale 16, Trevon Reddish adding 12 points and nine assists.
St. Francis outscored ELCA by nine in points off turnovers, but the Chargers had the better bench by nine points. There were 12 lead changes.

Class A Girls Public: Marion County 50, Calhoun County 38
A 24-12 halftime deficit wasn’t challenged much as Marion County survived an astounding 25-4 turnover-assist ratio to maintain control.
Ansley Whitley had 20 points and nine rebounds while twin Ashley had 12 points and 12 rebounds (but eight turnovers). Both battled leg cramps in the second half.
Destiny Hightower had 12 for Calhoun County (26-3) and Jateriah Winbush had 10.
Marion County (28-1) upped the lead to 17 in the second half. Calhoun County (26-3) had a brief two-point lead.

Class A Boys Public: Calhoun County 69, Treutlen 67
The fourth tie of the fourth quarter came on Jahmad Wiley’s baseline bucket in the lane with 27 seconds left, pulling Calhoun County even after the Cougars had trailed by three only 24 seconds earlier.
Treutlen, which had a 10-point first-quarter lead, paid for an inability to finish, which included missing four fourth-quarter free throws .
Arkavias Lovett missed a slightly off-balance shot in the lane, and the ball went out of bounds off Treutlen with 8.8 seconds left.
Tykevious Curry inbounded the ball, got it back, pushed it down the court, stopped just past the foul line and drew defenders and passed left to Quanderious Powell on the left block.
With two defenders coming at him, he got off a quick shot that went off glass and through the net with 3.5 seconds left for the game-winner.
The lead changed eight times in the third quarter, Calhoun County taking a 55-53 lead into the fourth. Overall: 17 lead changes and 13 ties.
Jahmad Wiley had 18 for Calhoun County (32-0), while Curry had 16 points and Juwaun Wiley 13 points, plus six steals.
Treutlen (30-2) put four in double figures, led by James Byrd’s 17 points in 22 minutes. Lovett had 15, Kamron Jordan recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds in 21 minutes, and Tafarjae Jordan had 10.

4 p.m.: 2A Boys – Therrell (4/3, 25-8) 51,  Vidalia (3/4, 27-5) 49

8 p.m.: 3A Boys – Morgan County (1/1, 30-2) 68, Hart County (8/10, 24-8) 54

Class AA Girls: Douglass-Atlanta 57, Early County 51
Both teams shot 33.3 percent and had rough nights at the line, but Douglass made three more shots and one more three for the difference overall.
Early County tied it at 51 with 1:44 left, but Douglass answered with six straight in a little more than a minute to win it. The Bobcats missed four shots and turned it over twice down the stretch, the Astros coming up with a block and two steals in that span.
Douglass overcame a 15-12 first-half deficit for a 28-25 halftime lead. The margin reached 11 in the third quarter before Early County scrapped back.
Nekiyah Thompson had 23 for Douglass (27-6) , which got 12 from Kayla Pruitt and 10 from Ashuntee Weems, plus 12 boards from Ikeny King.
Kakayala Timpson had 20 points and 14 rebounds for Early County (27-5).

Class AA Boys: Therrell 51, Vidalia 49

First-half leads maxed out at eight for Therrell and nine for Vidalia.
It was, though, a one-point game at halftime and stayed tight the rest of the way, Therrell (25-8) surviving despite scoring only four points in the final four minutes.
Robbie Armbrester had two of Therrell’s four steals in the last two minutes as Vidalia tried to get over the hump.
The Indians got a 3 from Mark Wardaw with seven seconds left to pull within 51-50 and then stole the inbounds, but gave it right back with a walk with 1.3 seconds left, Cameron Fortson making one of two.
Therrell had a 12-point edge in paints points and 11 in points off turnovers, Vidalia winning the bench battle 33-0.
Zyquon Morton led Therrell, which beat Northeast in the quarterfinals, with 19 while Armbrester and Roman Sun had 10 each, Sun adding five assists.
          Toriun Mull’s 14 topped Vidalia (27-5).

Class 3A Girls: Johnson-Savannah 54, Hart County 50
K’lya Hankerson wasn’t prolific, but the freshman was clutch.
She buried a 3 with 1:21 left to put Johnson ahead for good, and all but sealed the win with two free throws with 15 seconds left.
Johnson (22-8) led by 12 in the first half, but Hart County (25-7) stayed with the Atomsmashers and pulled ahead to lead in the fourth quarter.
It was tied at 48 on Torrion Starks’ layup, 10 seconds before Hankerson’s bucket. The Bulldogs turned it over, fouled three times, missed a 3, fouled, and missed another 3, that coming with 21 seconds left and a 51-48 deficit.
Then came Hankerson’s freebies, followed by two from Hart County’s Taniya Alexander to make it a 53-50 game with 13 seconds left.
Jasmine Thompson went 1 for 2 at the line with nine seconds left for a four-point lead.
Thompson had 20 points and J’Mya Otter 13 for Johnson, which was outrebounded by nine. Alexander led Hart County with 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Starks had 15.

Class 3A Boys: Morgan County 68, Hart County 54

For a three quarters, Hart County basically stayed with regular finals contender Morgan County, trailing 44-35 heading to the fourth quarter.
But hopes for the mild upset waned in the fourth quarter and Morgan County won its third state title in six years.
Morgan County won the regular-season meetings 70-53 and 66-55.
The Bulldog guard trio of Alec Woodard, Tyrin Lawrence, and Stevin Green teamed for 46 points.
Lawrence led with 19 points on 3-for-4 3-point shooting, adding 18 rebounds. Green had 14 on 6-of-10 shooting, and Woodard had 13 points to go with five assists and four steals.
Rex McCord had 19 points and 11 rebounds for Hart County, which had a better 11-8 assist-turnover ratio than Morgan County’s 11-19.
The Bulldogs, though, were 21 of 28 at the line to 9 of 16 for Hart County.
