Tuesday's Central Georgia - and of interest to Central Georgia - news and notes, compiled from staff reports, email reports, the web, and social media.

CGTC set for national tournament

Central Georgia Tech knows how to get to Hutchinson, Kansas, and that’s good, because the Titans are going back there.

CGTC won its second straight GCAA tournament championship, and advances to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I tournament.

The Titans are seeded 21st in the 24-team field and takes on 12th seed Indian Hills (Iowa) Community College on Monday at 9:30 p.m.

CGTC is 24-7 and Indian Hills is 26-6. The only team with less than 20 wins is 24th seed Cleveland State (Tenn.).

Northwest Florida State is 27-4 and the top seed.

Southwest grad Aaron Ridley III is fifth on the Titans with 8.5 points and 3.9 rebounds. Nate Brooks, who played at Stratford through his junior year before transferring to North Farmington (Mich.) and then Panola Junior College, is fourth with 4.5 rebounds. Warner Robins grad Champ Dawson gets 5.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.2 steals a game.

The winner gets Florida Southwestern, which has a bye, at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
