Semifinals

Class 5A

No. 5 Buford 29, No. 7 Jones County 0

The Greyhounds lost 14 yards on a fourth and 1 early in the game, and it was downhill after that, Buford’s defense keeping pressure on quarterback Hunter Costlow all night and hemming in the Greyhounds weapons most of the evening.

Buford will play Warner Robins at about 5 p.m. next Friday in the championship. Jones County’s season ends at 12-2.

No. 2 Warner Robins 55, Starr’s Mill 3

The homestanding Demons led 28-3 at halftime en route to their highest point total since beating Carrollton 63-24 in the 2017 playoffs.

Warner Robins (13-1) will play Buford at about 5 p.m. next Friday in the championship. Starr’s Mill ends the season at 10-4.

Class AA

No. 5 Dublin 55, No. 6 Thomasville 45

The Irish and the Bulldogs went at it, the Irish leading from the start, up 21-10 after one and 41-24 at halftime, and holding on.

Dublin (13-1) will play Brooks County, for the second time this season, at 1 p.m. next Friday in the championship. Brooks County beat Callaway 39-35.

Finals

Class AAA

John Milledge 62, Valwood 19
The Trojans lost 48-0 in this game a year ago, to Frederica, and turned the tables on Valwood to win their second title in four seasons and complete their second perfect season in the same span.

Class AA

Gatewood 49, Briarwood 7
The Gators took the suspense out early – and often – and forced a running clock with a 49-0 halftime lead to defend their title by cracking 60 points for the fifth time this season and second time in the playoffs.
