          Brayden Latimer kept a strong day in the circle going with a seven-strikeout, one-walk, three-hitter to lead the Trojans to the finals. The Trojans went up 2-0 in the second Jordan Prestridge’s two-run double, bringing in Ashley Tyson and Ella Hudgins, who had reached on a walk and single. Sutton Eady had two hits and Prestridge two RBI.

Latimer got the Trojans going in the opener with 12 strikeouts and three walks in a no-hitter, needing only 86 pitches in six innings, 48 fewer pitches than Tiftarea. JMA put it away with four in the fourth for a 6-0 lead. Cadence Bandows drove in five runs on two hits, while Ashley Tyson had three hits and two runs, Oliva Rhodes adding two hits. The line score for the second game was different only in Tiftarea’s third run, in the fourth, for the lead. Both teams had two hits and two errors, one of John Milledge’s leading to an unearned run. Latimer went all six innings for John Milledge, with one less strikeout and three fewer walks than her counterpart.

 

Westfield 3, Pinewood Christian 0; Pinewood 8, Westfield 7; Westfield 15, Pinewood 3; Westfield advances

          Westfield lost its second game of the season, and only one to a GISA opponent, in the middle game, and got a little miffed. The Hornets (33-2-1) pounded Pinewood, storming out to a 13-3 lead after three innings in the rubber game of the series to cruise. In the finale, Westfield quintupled Pinewood in runs and tripled it in hits, boosted by a 10-run third. Sadie Hayes and Ellie Williams had three RBI each, Hayes on four hits and Williams on two, while Lindsey Easom had three hits and two RBI. Emma Williams, Sydney Langdon, and Meg Hiley added two hits each for the Hornets. Marena Knowles added two RBI, belting a homer along with Hayes and Ellie Williams. Langdon gave up six hits and a walk with three strikeouts in four innings.

          In the opener, Westfield pieced together three one-run innings and rode the pitching of Emma Williams, who fanned seven with two walks on four hits. Ellie Williams belted a homer for an RBI, while Sadie Hayes also drove in a run. Pinewood bounced back in Game 2, although Westfield took a 5-2 lead after two innings. Pinewood countered Westfield’s one in the fifth with three and one in the sixth with three in the seventh, taking the walk-off on one-out three-run double. Emma Williams belted two homers and drove in five runs, while Sydney Langdon added two hits for the Hornets, who stranded three more runners than Pinewood.
