Henderson still not ready, another game is changed

The wishful thinking of when a Bibb County public high school football game would take place at Henderson Stadium remains just that: wishful thinking.

The second game to be played there this season will also have to be moved, and that’s this week’s Westside-Central game.

The Worth County-Rutland game scheduled for Sept. x was pushed up a day to the Thursday before, with expectations that it would be ready for this week’s game.

The delay: the new turf put down the past month isn’t ready yet.

Central head coach Joaquin Sample, Westside head coach Spoon Risper, and Central athletics director Andre Taylor and principal Emanuel Frazier walked the facility Tuesday morning and decided it wasn’t yet playable.

Sample issued a statement Tuesday morning:

The next game scheduled for Henderson is next week with Northeast and Southwest. After Pike County and Central, the stadium is scheduled to host Peach County and Central on Oct. 25. Also: Spalding-Howard, Nov. 1 and Bleckley County-Southwest, Nov. 8.
