Sugar Bowl: Night belonged to Texas from before kickoff as Horns control the Bulldogs

Things got off to a Texas start when mascot Bevo broke from his enclosure and moved toward Uga, sending the pooch and humans scattering. It was Texas’ night from then on, the Longhorns clicking against the non-clicking Bulldogs for a 28-21 – and it wasn’t that close – win in the Sugar Bowl.

Texas QB Sam Ehlinger was the game’s MVP, and deservedly so, accounting for 64 rushing yards and 169 passing yards, accounting for 233 of Texas’ 355 yards.

The Longhorn defense bowed up, harassing Jake Fromm all night and stuffing – more often than not – Georgia’s running game, which managed only 72 yards. The official stat book didn’t count quarterback hurries, but Fromm was hurried more often than not, including when he left the pocket and threw off-balance while going down on his lone interception.
