Games of the Week

Brooks County at Dublin

An underrated battle between No. 7 (in one poll) at No. 6/9. Nice time for the first meeting between the two schools.

The Sports Report Pick: (Upset special 1) Dublin by 3.

Colquitt County at Warner Robins

McConnell-Talbert has host some dazzling games, and this sure ranks up there going in. The Packers and the ever-discussable Rush Probst come to town – no ESPN cameras – and bring a nationally ranked team that has outscored four upper echelon teams 45-9 on average. Granted, one was Class AA Thomasville by 47, but there was also 7A McEachern by 34. The Demons lost players, replaced players, and have adjust to life temporarily without WR Tyler Fromm (shoulder), who is doubtful this week.

TSR pick: Colquitt County by 23.

Fitzgerald at Dodge County

Another old-school battle in Eastman. Fitzgerald is putting up a few points, and giving up a few, outscoring opponents 27.5-18.3. The Indians counter with a defensive 19.7-10.6 average.  The Indians have won eight of their alst nine at home, and haven’t lost a regular-season game there since Oct. 14, 2016, 18-14 to Washington County.

TSR pick: Dodge County by 11.

Houston County at Veterans

The Years Nobody Legitimately Predicted continues for the Warhawks, but barely at the home of the Hawks and Bears.

TSR pick: Veterans by 9.

Mary Persons at Peach County

This is Mary Persons’ toughest opponent of the year. And, on paper, this is Peach County’s second or third. The Bulldogs are playing better right now than the Trojans, who haven’t put many smiles on head coach Chad Campbell’s face with some practice efforts. Of course, the same situation existed last year and Peach County was fine. But things are a little reversed experience-wise.

TSR pick: (Upset special 2) Mary Persons by 8.

Upson-Lee at Griffin

Griffin’s two wins have been fairly middlin’, 19-13 over 4A Spalding and 26-17 over 7A Newnan, which hasn’t had a winning season since 2015. Upson-Lee let the Fitzgerald game slip away, and likely see the Bears as quite beatable. Griffin is unranked, and that hasn’t been the case often the past few seasons. The Knights should be a little healthier this week, too.

TSR pick: (Upset special 3) Upson-Lee by 4.
