Wednesday's Central Georgia Daily News 'n Notes: Not a great retirement party for Paul Johnson; Sugar Bowl QBs; Falcons 2019 roster should be ...?

Wednesday's Central Georgia - and of interest to Central Georgia - news and notes, compiled from staff reports, email reports, the web, and social media.

Yellow Jackets thumped in Johnson’s finale

Minnesota had the offense and defense and pulled away in the second half for a 34-10 win over Georgia Tech in the Quick Lane Bowl, and in Paul Johnson’s final game as the Yellow Jackets’ head coach.

The Tech offense never got going under senior quarterback TaQuon Marshall, although the Jackets ended up rushing for 206 yards, well below their average of 335 yards a game. They had only 56 at halftime.

Backup quarterback Tobias Oliver, a Northside grad, didn’t get into the game until midway through the fourth quarter and the game was in hand. He still managed 69 yards on nine carries, all one that one possession, which ended with a fumbled snap on fourth and goal at the Gopher 9.

Mohamed Ibrahim, a 5-10, 205-pound redshirt freshman, had plenty of holes and ran for 224 yards and two scores.
