GISA
Class AA
The Sports Report pick: Gatewood by 9 over Terrell
Class AAA
TSR pick: John Milledge by 17 over Frederica
GHSA
Class 6A
Northside at Dacula
The Eagles are a little more playoff-tested as a program, and have played a much stronger schedule than the Falcons. The teams are similar in what they do, and Dacula probably has some physical advantages. But Northside has been good on the road in the playoffs, and just improved every week.
TSR pick: Northside by 9
Class 5A
Rome at Warner Robins
Warner Robins has progressed more than Rome has digressed, and yes, the Wolves aren’t as good as last year. Still, they’re mighty good in all three phases, and better than the Demons in all three phases. But not by much at all. There will be no rout and no shutout, and it’ll be a four-quarter game. Rome QB Knox Kadum will make, in some form or fashion, the play or decision that basically is the difference.
TSR pick: Rome by 6
Class 3A
Peach County at Calhoun
Despite the attempts to stifle memories of last year, it won’t be out of the players’ heads, especially once they lay eyes on each other and on referees. And no doubt there’ll be some talk on the field. Whoever talks less and plays more will play better and win. Probably. It’s no stretch to see somebody slip up and get a 15-yarder. The teams are even, again, and the Trojans have to get the O going that didn’t go last year. This is a coin flip.
