Mercer's KeKe Calloway is the Southern Conference women’s basketball player of the week.
In a 92-82 win over SEC visitor Florida, the Mary Persons grad led Mercer with 30 points and 10 assists for her first double-double of the season. She was 9-of-21 from the floor, 6-of-10 from beyond the arc and 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. She also had four rebounds, all defensive, and two steals in the home win.
Calloway scored eight points and had seven rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal in a loss to UCF. ...
Former Peach County kicker Mitchell Fineran made the Southern Conference's coaches all-freshman team.
He was perfect on 45 PATs and 12 of 16 on field goals, with a long of 46, going 9 for 10 inside 39 yards. ...
Georgia College's Isaac Thornton is the Peach Belt player of the week.
Shorter got its fill of Thomas, who was 18-for-25 in back-to-back victories wins. He had 20 points in the first game at Centennial Center, followed by 22 points in road rematch. He added six steals and four assists in the games, moving up to second in the conference in field goal percentage and fourth in field goals made. ...
Middle Georgia State's Joy Sadler is the Southern States women's basketball player of the week after scoring 28 points with 12 rebounds, two blocks, and two steals in a 78-68 win over Thomas. She's averaging 16.4 points and 8.8 rebounds so far.
