Northeast's Ussery charged with having a gun on school property

Northeast quarterback Nolan Ussery was arrested Monday after being charged with taking a loaded gun to school.

The 19-year-old just completed his senior football season last week in Northeast’s 23-7 loss to Swainsboro.

Nolan Vashon Ussery Jr. turned himself in at 7 p.m. on Monday and was released a little after midnight on $9,750 bond after being charged with possession a gun on school property as well as theft by receiving stolen property.

Ussery passed for 1,119 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for 886 yards and seven touchdowns to lead Northeast to a 4-7 record and a trip to the GHSA Class AA playoffs.

Ussery was a four-year starter for the Raiders who carried the obituary of his father, who died last spring, with him on the field this season.
