Tuesday's Central Georgia Scoreboard (to be updated)

Softball

ACE 7, Miller County 6; Miller County 8, ACE 3; ACE 10, Miller County 0

          ACE advances in GHSA Class A public. In Game 1, Miller County made it interesting with three in the bottom of the seventh, but Mary Elizabeth Ballard followed a wild pitch that advanced the tying run to second by inducing a game-ending groundout. Ballard and Taylor Anne Martin had two hits each. Miller County scored three in three in the second inning of the second game and put it away with five in the fifth. Macie Allen had a pair of hits for ACE. The Gryphons got a solid mound effort from Ballard in the finale with a three-hitter, striking out three with a walk. Ballard and Lizzie Mitchell had three hits each and teamed for five RBI, Taylor Ann Martin adding three hits and two runs. Allen chipped in a pair of doubles and RBI.

Bleckley County 10, Metter 1; Bleckley County 14, Metter 4

          The Royals took control with four in the fourth, two coming in on Riley Edge’s double to left. She drove in three runs on two hits, while Abbey Simms and Macey Haley had two hits and two RBI. Bailey Odom struck out five with two walks in the three-hitter.

Crisp County 17, Central 2; Crisp County 13, Central 0

          Central’s season ends with the loss in 3A.

Harris County 7, Jones County 1; Harris County 3, Jones County 2, 9 inn.

          The Greyhounds’ season comes to an end with the loss in 5A.

Houston County 15, Lovejoy 0;

          The Bears put a whopping 12 up in the first of three innings. Makayla Krepps drove in six runs on three hits with three runs, while  Lauren Ross had two hits and three RBI and Hannah Otto two hits. Rylee Lamb fanned six.

Howard 7, Burke County 1; Howard 5, Burke County 3

          The Huskies advance in GHSA Class 4A action. Howard ran off three straight two-run innings to take control of the opener. Abby Mitchell had two hits, and Kensie McElmurray drove in two runs, belting a homer. Elle Doolittle dazzled in the circle with 13 strikeouts and no walks. A three-run third was the spark in the nightcap. Megan Sharpe had a two-run double in that inning for the Huskies, and added an RBI double in the fourth. Doolittle had three hits along with an 11-strikeout, three-walk four-hitter.

John Milledge 10, Pinewood 1; John Milledge 6, Pinewood 3

          The Trojans advance to play Loganville in the second round of the GISA Class AAA softball tournament.

Locust Grove 10, Veterans 6; Locust Grove 12, Veterans 1

          Veterans’ season comes to an end with the loss in 5A. The teams battled in the opener, a pair of two-run innings by Locust Grove topping the one-run frames by Veterans. The Warhawks put three up in the sixth for a 6-6 tie, but the hosts scored four in the bottom half. Emily Myers and Kaylee Brown had two hits each for Veterans, which got three runs from Myers and three RBI from Catherine Hickey. The hosts got all they needed in the top of the first with three, and cruised. Both teams had seven hits, but the Warhawks had four errors, leading to four unearned runs. Brown went 2-for-3 for Veterans.

West Laurens 17, Baldwin 2; West Laurens 18, Baldwin 1

          The champ of Region 2-4A had little trouble advancing toward another home series, improving to 19-9.
