Howard 7, Perry 5

Howard gets the three seed in Region 2-4A and Perry fourth, thanks to Megan Sharpe’s 0-1 two-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh. Sharpe and Kensie McElmurray  had two hits and two RBI for the Huskies, outhit by five. Reagan Hughes had three hits for Perry, with Terra Odom, Allison Peavy, and Carsen Garner two each.

Lamar County 7, Bremen 4

Lamar County overcame a 4-2 deficit with three in the fifth and two in the seventh, overcoming three errors. Ryla Traylor had three hits for the Trojans, and Brinkley Yevak got the complete-game win.

Lee County 3, Houston County 0

Lee County takes the top spot in Region 1-6A, the Bears second. Lee County no-hit the Bears, who take a 19-9 record into the playoffs.

Pike County 6, Rutland 0; Rutland 6, Pike County 4

Pike County had the bats and pitching to force a third game for the 4-3A championship, and the Hurricanes put five across in the fifth for the lead and the win. Singles from Kaitlyn Greene and Keely Bryant preceded doubles by Breasia Davis and Taylor Stewart for three runs in the big inning, and then Bailey Caldwell belted a two-run homer.  Keely Bryant had two of Rutland’s three hits in the first-game loss.

Tattnall 2, FPD 1 (10); Tattnall 1, FPD 0

The epic pitching duel in the Region 7-A tournament final went to the visitor. The Trojans scored in the first, and Kenna Epps made it stand up with an efficient six-hitter, with two strikeout and no walks. FPD’s Karsen Ochs gave up three hits and a walk, and struck out 12. Necessarily, Tattnall got to Ochs, so to speak, early, on doubles by Logan Oller and Epps. Each team only once managed to get consecutive baserunners. The Vikings got two one-out singles in the fifth, but couldn’t score, and Tattnall got two straight runners in the sixth and got nothing. Epps threw 55 strikes and 24 balls, Ochs 68 strikes and 24 balls. In the opener, Jaelyn Darley was put on second, as per extra-inning rules, and advanced on a passed ball before cruising in on Madyson Atwater’s triple to give Tattnall a 2-1 lead. Cassie Sutton took second for FPD, but Kenna Epps retired the Vikings in order for the win and force a third game. Tattnall head coach Joey Hiller won his 401st and 402nd games with the doubleheader win.

West Laurens 5, Mary Persons 4

The Raiders take first in 2-4A.
