Duke 28, Georgia Tech 14
A 21-point third quarter put Duke in control and the Blue Devils handed Georgia Tech is third home loss in the last 13 home games.
It was quite the flurry, the points all coming in the final 1:49 of the quarter.
Tech fumbled a punt near midfield, and the T.J. Rahmig scored on a 48-yard pass. Tech QB TaQuon Marshall fumbled on the first play and lost it. , and five plays later, Davis Koppenhaver took in the 1-yard TD pass with 15 seconds left.
Juanyeh Thomas fumbled the kickoff and Duke got it on the 6. And QB Daniel Jones did it again with no time left on the clock, hitting Johnathan Lloyd with a 6-yard touchdown pass.
The Jackets then consumed nearly half of the fourth quarter with a 15-play, 75-yard scoring drive to pull within two touchdowns.
They reached Duke’s 18, loss seven on a sack and passed incomplete on fourth down after a 14-play, 61-yard drive that ate up 3:32.
There was major intensity all afternoon with scores of confrontations, one of which led to the ejection of Tech linebacker Victor Alexander for throwing punches after a play.
Duke’s Jacob Morganstern wasn’t tossed, but did get an unsportsmanlike flag.
Northside alum Tobias Oliver was 2 for 6 passing for 34 yards and ran 10 times for 24 yards.
Army Prep 21, GMC 6
After three straight big offensive games, the host Bulldogs couldn’t get it going and were held to their lowest point total of the year.
Yale 35, Mercer 28
The offenses had fun, but Yale’s had more fun as the Bulldogs marched out to a 21-0 lead and then held off Mercer’s rally.
Northside alum Jaylan Sandifer caught a 38-yard touchdown pass to put the Bulldogs up 28-7 with 2:06 left in the half, Mercer answering on a 75-yard TD pass from Kaelan Riley to David Durden with 25 seconds left.
Mercer got within a touchdown at the 4:18 mark of the third quarter on Riley’s 12-yard pass to Marquise Irvin, Yale countering less than a minute into the fourth with a 16-yard touchdown pass.
The Bears got another Riley-to-Durden scoring connection, from 35 yards with 4:45 to go in the game after Yale missed a 31-yard field goal, but the Bulldogs were able to run the clock out.
Yale outpassed Mercer 381-344 and outran the Bears 183-74, for a 564-418 total offense advantage.
Kennesaw State 56, Gardner-Webb 17
Kennesaw State cracked the 50-point mark for the fourth time this season and rolled to a Big South win.
The Owls turned a 7-3 lead after one into a 28-3 halftime lead, QB Chandler Burks scoring on runs of 4 and 15 yards in the second quarter, Darnell Holland adding a 48-yarder.
Gardner-Webb actually led, getting a 35-yard field goal at the 8:09 mark. And then, well, Isaac Foster returned the ensuing kickoff 100 yards for the score and the lead.
Kennesaw State scored seven straight touchdowns before the Bulldogs scratched again, with a 75-yard run at the 11:45 mark of the fourth quarter, adding a 63-yarder with 8:51 left.
Five different Owls ran for at least 70 yards en route to a 490-yard rushing day, to 214 for Gardner-Webb.
KSU improved to 6-1 and 2-0.
LSU 36, Georgia 16
Georgia struggled in all phases, very uncharacteristically, and LSU easily took advantage in almost every phase
It was LSU’s best win since 2011 when it beat No. 2 Alabama.

Tuskegee scored twice in the middle quarters and took advantage of six FVSU turnovers for the SIAC win.

Morgan State 18, Savannah State 11
Morgan State was outgained 348-298, but was more efficient with the ball for the MEAC win.
The Tigers dropped to 1-5 and 0-3.
