Football

Lee County 24, Northside 7

          A 14-0 third quarter put Lee County in control and the Trojans kept the Eagles at bay to stay undefeated. Lee County scored on a 48-yard touchdown pass at the 9:30 mark of the third, and added a 70-yard punt return for a touchdown less than two minutes later. The Trojans added a 3-yard score to seal it with 2:43 left in the game. The Eagles were held to 133 yards offense by Lee County’s highly touted defense, the visitors getting only 260 yards. Lee County had only one more first down, and Northside had the ball for six more minutes.

Warner Robins 42, Thomas County Central 10

Softball

Piedmont 10, Brentwood 0; Piedmont 6, Brentwood 4

          The teams combined for nine errors in the opener, but Piedmont overcame it with offense, 14 hits. Cassidy Cook had four hits and Madison Johnson four RBI. Maddie Morton struck out four in the win. Piedmont scored two in the top of the seventh in the second game and held off Brentwood’s two-run rally in the bottom half.

Rutland 10, Haralson County 2

          The Hurricanes advanced in Class 3A, taking the lead for god with two in the third and clinching it with five in the sixth. Keely Bryant and Bailey Caldwell had three hits each, Bryant with three RBI and Caldwell with two. Taylor Stewart and Karly Douglas added two hits each. Bailey Caldwell stranded nine Haralson runners with the complete-game win.

Vidalia 8, East Laurens 0; Vidalia 7, East Laurens 5

          Vidalia put the opener away with five in the fourth. East Laurens was held to one hit, and had three errors.

 

Volleyball

Mount de Sales def. Stratford 2-0, Brookstone 3-0

          The Cavs took the Area 4-A championship for the fourth straight year. Elena Sanfrey, Colleen Braski, Avery Thomson, and Lily Walker made the all-area team for the Cavs. Stratford’s Kaitlyn Neel made the team, as were Wynter Callahan and Emily Cox from FPD.
