Rain delays only delay offensive loss
Tampa Bay got control with five runs from the third to fifth innings and held off a late rally for an 8-5 win.
The Rays outhit the Braves by one, but Atlanta stranded three more runners and was 3-for-10 with runners in scoring position.
Johan Camargo’s three-run homer in the first was Atlanta’s only extra-base hit.
C.J. Cron went 4-for-5 for Tampa Bay, which is nine games over .500 but 20.5 games back in the AL East.
Sean Newcomb had the rare poor outing, giving up six runs and eight hits in four innings, yet striking out seven and walking two.
