Henley finishes PGA Championship with a steady round (updated)

 Updated 9:45 p.m.

He gained only a little ground, but Russell Henley will leave the PGA Championship with some momentum of consistency.

Henley teed off Sunday morning and finished the fourth round 2 under for a tournament total of 278. Around 2 p.m., that was good for a tie for 50th in a tournament that had 58 players finish below par.

He had four birdies and two bogeys, struggling with No. 4 and No. 10, each of which he bogeyed twice in the tournament.

Henley shot 4 over, 5 under, 1 over, and 2 under for the tournament.

He has shot under par in five of the last six tournaments he’s made the cut in, having missed only the Open Championship cut in that stretch.

It was a marked improvement from last year’s PGA for Henley, when he shot a 12-over 296. He then was under par in his final four tournaments of the season, topped by a tie for third in the Tour Championship.

The Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, N.C. and the Northern Trust in Paramus, N.J. are the next two PGA tournaments on the schedule.
