Stratford's Barrow in USTA National Level 3 final at JDS

In a tournament filled with competitors from around the nation, coast to coast, numbering nearly 250, a Central Georgian remains alive for a championship.
Samuel Barrow, who will be a junior this fall at Stratford, will compete in the boys 16 finals at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the USTA National Level 3 tennis tournament at John Drew Smith Tennis Center.
Barrow, who helped the Eagles to another GHSA Class A Private state title in the spring, gave up only six games in winning his first two matches before beating second-seeded Pavan Murughesh, and won his semifinal over Paul Wang 6-3 6-3.
He’ll face Alejandro. Moreno Laforre of Marietta, the third seed, in the championship.
Barrow and teammate Kondwani Patterson of Concord, N.C. got a first-round bye in boys 16 doubles and won their first match before losing 6-4.
McGee Isgett of Perry lost his boys 18 first-round match, 6-0, 6-1 to David Burns, and then fell in the consolation match. Noah Johnson Jr. of Macon lost his opening match and then consolation meeting in boys 18.
Rebecca Rubanov of Macon won her first four matches before losing in her first consolation battle.
