Monday's Braves Report: late-night trade; Teheran gets stronger, bullpen comes through; trade talk, organization moves, Chipper, Newcomb, minor-league update
Teheran settles down after shaky start, offense helps
Miami got two off Julio Teheran in the first inning, but he settled down and followed with three shutout innings and left with the lead as Atlanta topped Miami 5-3.
Teheran went five, giving up three runs on four hits with four Ks and four BBs.
Shane Carle, Jesse Biddle, newcomer Brad Brach, and A.J. Minter followed and kept the Marlins in check, allowing only four hits.
Brach threw the eighth and gave up a hit.
The Marlins threatened in the ninth. Derek Dietrich got a one-out single, and that was it.
Atlanta scored two in the second and third.
Ender Inciarte’s sac fly and Teheran’s single brought in the runs in the second, and the two in the fourth came in on Freddie Freeman’s homer and Johan Camargo’s double.
Camargo had two of Atlanta’s six hits, and Tyler Flowers scored twice.

Kolby Allard is lined up to make his MLB debut tomorrow. This allows the Braves to start another lefty against the Marlins. Also will help create an additional day of rest for each SPs as the Braves are in a stretch of playing on 31 of 32 days./MB
Braves put Sam Freeman on DL with left-shoulder inflammation to make room for Brad Brach./GB
There’s a chance Touki Toussaint could also be promoted soon to join Atlanta’s bullpen. So, there might be a flurry of moves this week./MB
Sean Newcomb addressed his Braves teammates today about the insensitive tweets that resurfaced yesterday. He will meet with MLB Ambassador of Inclusion Billy Bean when the team is in New York later this week./MB
Teheran allowed Brian Anderson's two-run homer during a 31-pitch first inning. The Trade Deadline is tomorrow./MB
Walks and homers are things pitcher has control over to large extent, unlike bad luck on grounders that get through infield or liners a few feet to left or right of defender. #Braves’ Teheran is getting beat by walks and homers. Repeatedly. Big problem. Little if any trade value./DOB
Everyday third baseman Johan Camargo knocked in the Braves fourth run. His second double of game. 4-2./GB
Through tonight's first inning, Teheran has allowed 1.70 HR/9 IP (sixth-worst among qualified starters). He had a 1.48 HR/9 IP ratio when he surrendered a career-high 31 homers last year./MB
Couple homers from Freeman and Acuna, couple of big knocks from Camargo and Teheran and four sharp innings from Teheran since giving up walk and two-run homer to start the first. #Braves up 5-3 on the Fish through five./DOB
Acuna's 10th homer comes in his 202nd career at-bat (20.2 AB/HR). The only rookies w/a better AB/HR ratio are Gleyber Torres (15.6), Christian Villanueva (15.7), Daniel Palka (16.0) and Juan Soto (16.2)./MB
Brad Brach will probably pitch tonight, Snitker said. His role will be anywhere 7th to 9th inning. Has closer experience./GB
