Thursday's Central Georgia - and of interest to Central Georgia - news and notes, compiled from staff reports, email reports, the web, and social media. Updates will be noted, so check back.

The Braves are off. The Braves Report is not.

Macon back to .500 with second straight loss

A four-run top of the sixth no doubt had Macon feeling good, the Bacon taking a 7-5 lead over Lexington County.

But the Blowfish answered with four in the seventh and held on for a 10-8 win over the Bacon in Coastal Plain action.

The Bacon fell back to .500 at 16-16.

Alex Canty and Conner Corbitt (Stratford) each had three hits for Macon, with Kenton Crawford, Jackson Jones, Jared Kapturasky, and Andres Perez getting two hits each. Keaton Weisz drove in three runs, while Canty and Crawford had two each.

Chandler Jenkins and Hunter Lipscomb each had four hits for the Blowfish.

Weisz had a two-run single in that sixth for Macon, which had two on before a Lexington County reliever got two straight outs.

The Blowfish got going in the seventh with three straight hits, and then two more after an out.

Macon hosts Florence on Friday and Lexington County on Saturday.

Georgia hoops continues with transition

Endurance and toughness are high priorities for the Bulldogs.

Herschel on the move?

An Athens statue of Herschel Walker currently lives at a private residence. Is Sanford Stadium next?

Hawks’ Young seeing a little improvement

Top draft pick Trae Young has gotten off to a slow summer-league start and earned a chunk of criticism, but there is some progress.

And speaking of that improvement …

Wednesday night, he showed some steps forward in helping the Hawks to a huge comeback win.
