Piece of cake for Georgia in Knoxville?
Sept. 30, 2017, 3:15 p.m.
It's been a happy couple days for Georgia fans.
The thousands who trekked north to the land of orange did so know that this one is in the bag.
No way, folks started saying early in the week, Georgia loses this game. Can't see it, wouldn't predict it, nosireeee. It continued to Saturday, where TVcomtwits in some cases wanted to throw Tennessee some love and couldn't.
Nobody seems to think Tennessee can win. Not will win. Can.
Wait. Isn't this the SEC, the bestest and greatest conference in the land? Isn't Tennessee the program that has a more recent national title on its resume?
It's just too easy to dismiss Tennessee, even though Georgia is clearly the better team. But then there's this feeling - here anyway - that Georgia has reached a certain point a little earlier than expected.
One kind of wonders if there's a shoe out there to drop, moreso one to just calm folks down a hair.
Another thing people have mentioned is how hard Tennessee plays for Butch Jones, even if the Vols don't play all that smart.
So this team that never gives up has no chance when people say it has no chance? I'm guessing they're kind of tired of hearing that the past few weeks.
Georgia is a 10-point favorite, which may be something for spreads but can be inches in reality. Not sure why that means the Dogs can’t lose. They can.
As Tennessee knows from a year ago and two weeks ago, Hail Marys can be heard.
In a game that’s most likely closer than the score, the pick is Georgia 30, Tennessee 17.

Nothing says "it's onnnn" on a Saturday like Minnesota-Maryland at noon. ...
Make fun of it all you want, but I really like watching Georgia Tech's offense when the Jackets don't put it on the ground. Blocking is huge, timing is huge, you have to be tough to be a back in that offense, a football player.
And when an offense, no matter the scheme, can make a defense look silly, that's a pretty good offense. ..
Tony Romo has made a phenomenal transition to the broadcast booth. Wow. Effortless, doesn't throw up cliches left and right, isn't trying too hard.
He's honest, you can hear him make sounds on certain plays or hits, and he's smart.
People who clearly execute so much better at their jobs and in their lives took great joy in dumping on Romo, which was always annoying. I wish he'd have gone somewhere less fishbowlish and done well to shut up the yahoos.
Romo joins Troy Aikman in making games much more tolerable. ...
Another Saturday without Lou Holtz. Hallelujah. ...
I've covered more than a half-dozen games this season for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
There have been some big spreads in which the game was better than you'd think.
But then there was Warner Robins knocking off Northside to open the season. And then a game-winning field goal at the buzzer, Warner Robins beating Peach County in a phenomenally enjoyable game. Banged up Upson-Lee almost survived shotgun snap issues against Class 5A ranked Griffin and loses by 10.
Macon County scores inside the final minute and holds on against Taylor County. And Warner Robins and Eli Mashburn pull off the final-seconds-field goal again to beat Coffee.
Not sure how long it's been since I've gone into October without seeing a running clock. I pray to keep that streak alive, even if a running clock means probably finishing earlier. ...
Yes, Jim Harbaugh was checking out some Lee County players at Freedom Field Friday night in Houston County's 34-0 loss. Am guessing Bear running back Wesley Steiner, even with a rough game, might have caught his eye.
Steiner is a sizable sophomore who has some wiggle to him, and is on the One To Watch list here.
And, yes, Jim Harbaugh was checked out as well. ...
Has it rained around here since Irma?

From Dwight Perry of the Seattle Times:
"Local businesses stepped up to the plate to fund the Los Angeles County’s struggling Lennox Little League, including $1,200 from the Jet Strip club.
"Hey, it was either offer them cash or brass foul poles."
