Wednesday's Central Georgia high school playoff scoreboard

 

WEDNESDAY

Baseball

FPD 10, Providence Christian 0; FPD 15, Providence Christian 2

          Five in the third led to the 5-inning win fo the Vikings, who got a no-hitter from Noah Takac, a Davidson signee who struck out 8 with no walks. Garrett West went 3-for-4, and the Vikings got 2-hit games from Gavin Bloodworth and Chet Thompson, Bloodworth and Rob Cunningham driving in 2 each. The Vikings pulled away midway through the second game.

Flowery Branch 3, Veterans 0; Flowery Branch 3, Veterans 1

          Visiting Flowery Branch got enough with 2 in the first, Veterans managing only 2 hits against Andrew Armstrong. Both teams had 3 hits in the nightcap, but Flowery Branch's counted more and it survived 8 LOBs to eliminate the Warhawks at home.

Tiftarea 8, Gatewood 5; Tiftarea 8, Gatewood 7

          Tiftarea scored three in the bottom of the seventh on a two-out walk-off homer to take the opener of the GISA series. Cody Kauffman went 3-for 3 and Reid Sasser and Josh McMillian had 2 hits each for Gatewood. It was 6-5 Tiftarea after one in the nightcap, but Tiftarea got one more in a game of 7 errors. Brayden Hill, McMillian, and Luke Haley had 2 hits each for Gatewood, which stranded 8.

Heritage 6, West Laurens 1, 10 inn.; Heritage 6, West Laurens 1

          The Raiders couldn't get any offense going, stranding 14 runners for the day and 10 in the nightcap on 11 hits in two games. A 4-run fifth sealed the opener. Nolan Daniel had half of West Laurens' 4 hits. The oddity was the nightcap, tied at 1 after 9 only for Heritage to explode for 5 in the 1oth, 3 on a 2-out single. West Laurens got a pair of 2-out runners in the bottom of the 10th. Daniel had 3 hits and Jacob Floyd 2 for the Raiders.

Pope 5, Houston County 1; Houston County 4, Pope 2

          The Bears trailed 3-1 after one and couldn't score after that while being held to 2 hits. Cam Jones gave up only 6 hits in the loss. The Bears took little advantage of 4 errors in the nightcap, getting RBI singles in the fifth from Dylan Tabor and Jacob Profit for the win. Logan Morris had 3 hits and Logan Morris 2 for the Bears. Chandler Ring fanned 10 in the complete-game win. Game 3 is at 6 p.m. Thursday

Tattnall 11, Wesleyan 1; Tattnall 11, Wesleyan 4

          Tattnall advanced to the Class A private semifinals with a 5-inning first-game win and a romp in the nightcap. The Trojans' 3-run fifth made the opener shorter, as did 6 Wesleyan errors. Dawson Brown went 3-for-3 with 3 RBI in the first game, with Logan Fink and Austin Marchman belting homers. Fink also had 3 RBI for Luke Laskey, who fanned 7 and walked 1. A 9-run fifth put the Trojans in control of the nightcap, although the Wolves battled hard with 3 in the bottom half, albeit not enough as they were outhit 16-4. Brooks Gorman and Mike Morris had 3-hits for the Trojans, with 2-hit games from Logan Simmons, Fink, Trey Ham and BJ Spears. Simmons, Fink, Ham, and Morris each drove in 2 runs. Gorman went all 7 with 7 Ks and 3 BBs for the 4-hitter win.

 

TUESDAY

Charlton County 6, Taylor County 2

          Charlton County got enough with 3 in the second to win the series. Ezra Cummings had 2 of Taylor County's 5 hits, the Vikings stranding 7.

Oglethorpe County 3, East Laurens 2

          Oglethorpe County stunned the No. 2 Falcons in East Dublin. OC was 8-3-1 and ranked eighth, the Falcons' season ends at 19-2-1.

FPD 5, Calvary Day 0

          The Vikings advanced to the championship game behind 2-goal games from Karsten Herron and Jansyn Samples, and one from Sadie Frame. The second-ranked Vikings improved to 22-0

MONDAY

Class A public

Charlton County 6, Taylor County 1; Taylor County 4, Charlton County 2

          Small ball by Taylor County evened the series, the Vikings getting 4 in the fourth of the nightcap. Taylor County pieced together a Gunnar Watson double, Ezra Cummings single, two walks and two errors, finishing the game with 4 hits.  Ryan Tharpe, Evan Hinton, and Watson hadnled the pitching. Charlton County led 4-0 after three in the opener, in which the Vikings had 3 hits and 5 errors.
