          Emerson Hancock and Houston County grad Tony Locey were on point on the mound to lift Georgia to a 3-0 win over No. 15 Texas A&M.

 

College Baseball: Georgia Tech rolls past Miami

          Xzavion Curry whiffed 12 for a career high to lead Georgia Tech to a 6-1 win over MIami.

          Curry is now 6-0 this year.

 

College Softball: Mercer off to sizzling SoCon start, wins another series

          Mercer is 5-0 in conference softball play for the first time in program history after beating ETSU 2-0 and 3-0, for three straight shutouts and a 22 inning scoreless streak.


College Softball: Georgia College rolls to non-conference sweep
    Georgia College found different ways to take a 13-2 and 3-0 doubleheader from Emmanuel.
 

 

SPHL Hockey: Mayhem take care of business on the road

          Jake Trask and Dylan Vander Esch were good for four points each in Macon's 6-1 win over Fayetteville in SPHL action.

Signings/commitments update for the week

          Upson-Lee's Mary Masdon McCrary and Alyssa Holmes have signed to play softball at Gordon State.

          The Knights' Demarquez Carter signed a football letter with Union College in Kentucky.

          Bleckley County's Ellie Wortham has signed to play volleyball at Andrew College.

          Mercer pitcher Stella Preston is the Southern Conference student-athlete of the week. She has a 3.91 GPA, and went 2-0 last week with 11 innings, allowing just 5 hits for the Bears.

          Franziska Nobis of Middle Georgia State is the Southern States Athletic Conference women's tennis player of the week. She helped the 13th-ranked Knights beat No. 24 Reinhardt 6-3, winnng 6-0 and 7-6 in singles and 9-7 at No. 1 doubles.

          She is the fifth MGSU tennis player honored this season. ...

          Middle Georgia State's Darrell White, a former standout at Peach County, was named NAIA All-American honorable mention recently. White averaged 16.3 points a game, shooting 48.1 percent from the foor and 80.3 from the line. He was also a first-team all-conference pick. ...

          Haley Tierce, a junior from Houston County, is the latest Peach Belt Conference softball player of the week. The infielder got hits in all eight of Georgia Southwestern's games, batting .429 with 5 homers and 13 RBI. She fanned only once in 28 at-bats. Tierce is tied for the league lead with 12 homers. ...

          Middle Georgia State's Madison Staniloiu is the Southern States Athletc Conference softball player of the week after batting .529 with 3 homers and 8 RBI.
