Lunchtime will be very different for a slew of teenagers on Thursday, because many will start their search for a GHSA tradition wrestling state title when the tournament gets going at the Macon Coliseum.

Action begins at noon with the round of 16 in Class 4A and 5A, with 6A and 7A starting at 2 p.m.

The 4A and 5A quarterfinals and first wrestlebacks begin at 4, the same for 6A and 7A at 6 p.m.. The second round of wrestlebacks for 4A and 5A start at 8.

On Friday, Classes 3A, 2A and A get going at 10 a.m., with other various rounds for different classes beginning at 12 p.m. and 1 p.m, with consolation rounds starting at 1 p.m.

          The schedule is here.

Friday’s consolation finals begin at 10 a.m. The opening ceremony Saturday is at 2:30 p.m., and finals for all classes begin at 3 p.m.

Tickets are $7 for Thursday and $10 for Friday and Saturday, with a three-day pass available for $24.

As far as Central Georgia goes, Class 4A is worth watching, with scores of area wrestlers – especially from West Laurens – qualifying and having good seasons. Veterans should make some noise in Class 5A, and Class 6A has defending champions from Central Georgia.

Here by class and weight for Thursday’s competitors are Central Georgia’s qualifiers. Records are as listed in the tournament program.

Area competitors for Classes 3A, 2A, and A will be added later Thursday.
