A pair of defenders will represent Central Georgia in Sunday’s NFL playoff games, one in the first game and one in the second.

Northside alum Abry Jones is in his fifth season with Jacksonville.

The Georgia grad is a 6-4, 318-pound defensive tackle who is 11th on the team with 32 tackles, and has a sack and fumble recovery and forced fumble. He has started 15 games this season.

Jones is joined on the Jags roster by one other product of a state college, rookie wideout Montay Crockett of Georgia Southern.

Buffalo has a selection of players from SEC and ACC schools, but none from Georgia.

Hawkinsville’s Charles Johnson is in his 11th year in the NFL, all with Carolina, which drafted him in the third round in 2007. He was been released and re-signed by Carolina in 2016

The 6-2, 278-pound defensive end is 18th on the team with 16 tackles, having missed some time serving a suspension for a violation of the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances last month. This is Johnson’s first game back.

Carolina has two other Georgia college products: rookie fullback Alex Armah of West Georgia, linebacker Thomas Davis of Georgia,

Georgia State alum Will Lutz has been of huge impact for New Orleans in his short career, and he’s the only Peach Stater for the Saints.
