Milestones at Mary Persons, Dodge County and Peach County; Saturday's prep hoops

          Saturday’s Central Georgia high school basketball action had a few milestones for area standouts.

          Cam Holden had a double-double en route to passing 2,000 points in his career in Mary Persons’ 89-47 blasting of Spalding.

          Dodge County multi-sport standout Nick Cummings went over 1,400 points in a tight 6-point win over Hawkinsville.

          And Peach County’s Deja Holland crossed the 1,000-point mark in the Trojans’ 64-20 rout of Crawford County in girls action.

          The rest of the week’s action follows Saturday’s scores.

          The Lady Chargers improved to 19-2 behind another double-double from Jada Clowers (21 points, 15 rebounds, plus 4 blocks). Tyleia Williams poured in 18 points to go with 4 rebounds, while JeNya Wilder had 12 rebounds and 4 steals, plus 9 points.

          The Golden Hawks improved to 16-6 behind 16 points from Destinee Ellison and 13 from Jada Darrisaw, plus a double-double from Nikayona Warthen (12 points, 11 rebounds) and near double-double from Nijera Jordan (11 points, 9 rebounds).

          DeMarcus Caines scored 30 to make sure Hawkinsville didn't get its first win of the year. Nick Cummings added 16 and RJ Carr 13. Cummings, a standout multiple-sport athlete, passed 1,400 points for his career.

          Standout Cam Holden cruised past 2,000 points for is career with 31 points. It was a full night for the versatile Holden, who had 11 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals. Tre Edge had 17 points and 5 rebounds, and Dee Morton 13 points and 4 rebounds.

           Balance was the key for the Golden Hawks, who got 8 points from Jawan Dukes, Jalen Jackson, and Jarden Maze, and 7 from Ivory Williams and Conner Frazier. Keith Foster had 8 rebounds, Frazier 6.

          Greg Holloway led Westside with 20 points and 14 rebounds.

          Double-doubles from Tyleia Williams (16 points, 10 steals) and Kayia Greene (12 points, 10 rebounds) helped Central roll to its 18th win in 20 games. JeNya Wilder added 11 points, 9 rebounds, 6 steals, and 4 assists in a complete effort, and Jada Clowers had 8 points, 4 boards, and 4 blocks.

          It was a battle of top 10 teams, Telfair County in Class A public and Dodge County in AA. Europe Brown topped the Indians with 19, the only player in double figures for Dodge County.

          The Demons pulled off the upset of second-place Bainbridge, which fell to 19-4 while Warner Robins improved to 11-9.
