Seasons and dreams continue for Warner Robins and Peach County

Warner Robins didn’t have to sweat it out, Peach County did.

But they’re both dome-bound – Mercedes-Benz Stadium is a dome – to play for state championships on Friday.

And the two counties next to each other will play right after each other.

Peach County takes on Calhoun at 1 p.m. on Friday in the second game of the weekend, the Class AAA finale, and Warner Robins gets Rome right afterward in the 5A game, kickoff scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Mary Persons lost 28-7 to Blessed Trinity in a Class AAAA semifinal.

Warner Robins has played Rome once. And won a state title afterward. The Demons took a 35-32 win at home against the Wolves in a 2004 quarterfinal, going on to beat Ware County 40-0 in a semifinal and Statesboro 34-13 in the AAAA championship.

Peach County is a little more familiar with Calhoun. Most definitely. Extremely familiar.

Calhoun nipped Peach County 20-14 in overtime in a round 2 game in 2015, the Yellow Jackets proceeding to edge Elbert County 33-30 in three overtimes in the semifinal and then lose to Blessed Trinity 12-7 in the AAA championship.

Cost is $22 per ticket, per day, and are available at member schools and the Mercedes-Benz Stadium ticket office.

The games will be broadcast on Georgia Public Broadcasting, with streaming available on GPB.or and the NFHS Network.

There is a clear-bag policy in effect. Gates 1 and 2 - on the Georgia Dome side - will open at 9 a.m. Only concourse 100 will be open.

Parking can be purchased at https://parking.mercedesbenzstadium.com/events.

The only parking lot connected to the stadium open for the weekend is the Red Deck, although the small Silver Deck and Lot U will be open.

The Blue Lot on Northside Drive and the Yellow and Marshalling Yard at the far end of the Georgia World Congress Center are available.

The Gold Deck, between the Georgia Dome and GWCC, will be open.

Costs for Silver, Red, Blue, Yellow and Gold are $17.5, with Lot U $23 and Marshalling Yard $34.

The Vine City and Philips/CNN Center Marta stops are connected to the stadium.
