Macon TD Club welcomes Georgia State's Elliott; honors three local players
Georgia State head coach Shawn Elliott is Monday's speaker at the Macon Touchdown Club.
Stratford is the featured high school team.
The Club will honor three players of the week.
FPD's Titus Moore is the back of the week after catching eight passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns in the GHSA first-round playoff win over Tattnall.
Teammate Andrei Parrish is the special teams player. He was perfect on all seven PATs.
Jones County's Antonio Evans is the defensive player. He had 11 tackles, six for loss and two sacks in the first-round win over Griffin.
Elliott in his is first season as head coach with the Panthers, who are 6-3 after beating Texas State 33-30 on Saturday on the road.
The Camden, South Carolina native played at Appalachian State, then coached there from 1997-2009 before joining the staff at South Carolina.
He was interim head coach after Steve Spurrier's resignation and stayed on in 2016 before taking over at Georgia State.
The Panthers have matched their program high in wins and are bowl eligible, and have games left against Appalachian State and Idaho.
Army head coach Jeff Monken is next week’s speaker, and Maconite J.T. Thomas, formerly of the Pittsburgh Steelers, is the final speaker of the season, on Nov. 27.
The club meets at the Methodist Home for Children and Youth, in the Rumford Center, at 304 Pierce Ave. It starts at 6:30 p.m. with dinner and the program to begin around 7. Cost is $30 for non-members, who needn't be accompanied by a member.
